Cops who handcuffed farmers have been punished: HM

Hyderabad: Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Saturday claimed that the police officials responsible for bringing accused farmers in handcuffs to the court have been punished.

Addressing the annual conference of Telangana Union of Working Journalists here, the Home Minister said that immediate action was taken against the police officials responsible for the act.

However, he accused the Congress party of politicising the issue without taking the action taken by the government into consideration.

Nayani said that the opposition parties have no issues to speak about and therefore, they are doing politics over Dharna Chowk. He claimed that the TRS would remain in power in Telangana State for the next 10 years. He also promised to take all measures for the welfare of journalists in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said previous regimes did nothing for the welfare of journalists. However, he said that the TRS Government has issued Health Cards and have been seriously working to resolve their problems.

The meeting was also addressed by Press Academy chairman A. Narayan and other office bearers of TUWJ. (INN)
