BJP to intensify stir over Hyderabad Liberation Day fete

Hyderabad: Several BJP leaders and workers were arrested by the police for staging a protest near Hyderabad District Collectorate on Tuesday demanding that the Telangana Government celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 at official level.

Telangana BJP President Dr. K. Lakshman, floor leader in Assembly G. Kishan Reddy and other leaders and workers were taken into the custody by the police. Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy said that erstwhile Hyderabad State got freedom 28 months after India achieved Independence.

He said it was due to the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that Hyderabad was merged with Indian Union. Else, it would have been another Pakistan.

He said TRS Government was not celebration the occasion official under the pressure of MIM. He said previous TDP and Congress regimes too did not celebrate the Liberation Day for the same reason.

Stating that BJP was all set to come to power in Telangana in 2019 elections, Kishan Reddy said it would conduct official celebrations in all villages of Telangana. (INN)
