October Revolution remembered on its centenary at Lamakaan

Marxist thinker Shashi Prakash recalled achievements of Russian revolution at an event organized at Lamakaan on Saturday to mark centenary of October Revolution.

In the talk on ‘Socialist Experiments of the Last Century and Path of New Socialist Revolution in the Current Century’, editor of The Anvil threw light on challenges of new socialist revolution in the 21st Century.

On the next day, another talk was organized by ‘In Defence of Reason’ to mark 50th year of Naxalbari at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad.

Prakash also spoke at length on ‘Critical appraisal of the Naxalbari Legacy and Problems and Prospects of Communist Movement in India.’

He said that while the stream of revolutionary Left which emerged in the aftermath of Naxalbari made a radical rupture with the revisionism of CPI and CPM, it has suffered from disarray and disintegration because of serious ideological deviations.

Prakash talked about the Left adventurist deviation and widely prevalent dogmatic understanding within the revolutionary stream with regard to nature of Indian society and the dominant production relations of India.

He explained the changes in the modus operandi of capital in last few decades and how the strategy and general tactics of revolution needs to be formed in the preparation for new socialist revolution in the 21st Century.

Among prominent persons who attended the talk was Prof. Padmaja Shaw, Prof. Suryanarayan Reddy and students of Osmania University, and English and Foreign Language University.
