Cleanliness is essential for healthy living and there is an urgent need to focus on both physical and mental health and hygiene. These thoughts were expressed by Dr. M A Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU while addressing about 250 student participants and NSS volunteers on the occasion of public program of Swachhta Pakhwada 2019 held on September 13.
NSS Cell of Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized cleanliness drive as part of Swachhta Pakhwada from 1stto15th September, 2019. Program Coordinator, Prof. Mohammad Fariyad not only assigned cleaning tasks to volunteers but also led them by example and took active part.
Dr. Sikandar also participated in the cleanliness drive at H.K. Sherwani Center for Deccan Studies in the University and motivated the participants to keep themselves and their surroundings clean.
During the two-week campaign, various places were identified within the University for water conservation and rain water harvesting and awareness campaign was carried out to sensitize staff and students for proper utilization of water in the campus.
The Cell also organized Poster/Sketch competition for students and staff to highlight the importance of water conservation and planted saplings in the campus during the Pakhwada.
NSS Program Officers Dr. Md. Afroz Alam and Mr. B. Bikshapati were also present during the programme.
