SHC confused over accommodation to pilgrims at Haj pilgrims

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday admitted that the Telangana State Haj Committee was facing difficulties in arranging accommodation for Haj pilgrims who would leave for holy journey from Hyderabad Embarkation Point.

With various departments of Minorities Welfare Department of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments occupying almost all rooms in the Haj House building for their office, there is no space left to arrange accommodation for Haj pilgrims.

As against the requirement of over 1,000 rooms daily during the Haj camp, only 180 rooms are available in the present Haj House building.

Briefing the media persons on arrangements for Haj Camp 2016, the Deputy CM informed that accommodation for pilgrims has been arranged in the adjacent Haj Commercial Complex.

However, he failed to reply as to why the decision on accommodation was delayed and the SHC called short-tenders to make arrangements.

The Deputy CM assured that all arrangements for accommodation would be ready by the beginning of Haj camp on August 19th.

Mahmood Ali also informed that over 600 selected pilgrims would also get free accommodation in Holy Makkah in Nizam’s Rubaat.

He claimed that the State Government acted as mediator to resolve dispute between Nazir Rubaat and HEH The Nizam Auqaf Committee to restore free accommodation for pilgrims.

Meanwhile, Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel said that the State Government has initiated the process to give judicial powers to Wakf Board and the relevant files have been sent to Law Department for opinion. (INN)
