TS Govt. Job Aspirants in Bewilderment, Not Sure What to Target

Staff Reporter/HYM News #

A large number of educated youth in Telangana State (TS) are in a dilemma over their choice of ‘Preparation’ for the competitive examination as there are two different options but none of them seems to be concretely yielding.

On one hand, Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) wanted to release notification for Groups (I, II, III and IV) examinations after readying itself with new self, and on the other, State Education Department has plans for District Selection Committee (DSC) exam in a near future.

Notification for Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), a necessary barrier for DSC aspirants, was already issued and DSC would follow it. It is to be noted that eligibility for appearing in Groups examination or TET is basically the same i.e. graduation is must.

As all the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) qualified students are obviously graduates hence also eligible for attempting Group examinations; they are in confusion in opting the examination for preparation.

P Srinivas, a post graduate with B.Ed, is eligible to appear in TET and DSC. However, until the Telangana government released the notification for TET recently, he was preparing for the Groups examination in hope of notification from TSPSC.

He said that he wanted to give an attempt for Groups examination but the state commission was not releasing the notification citing various hurdles besides the less number of vacancies available. On the other hand though Education department has released notification for TET there were reports that DSC may also not recruit more.

“If there are plenty of opportunities we can go for preparation but for little number of vacancies it would be waste of time. Moreover the syllabus for Groups and DSC is totally different, one cannot afford to have two kinds of training at a single point”, he said.

It is to be noted that as many as 6.2 lakh youth have registered for the One Time Registration (OTR) facility of the TSPSC, most of them are eligible to attend for Groups examinations. On the other hand there are around 6 lakh B Ed qualified students in the state who are also eligible for Groups. However, with both Groups and DSC not having sufficient number of vacancies, students are in dilemma as to which option they must go for.

For DSC a student needs to prepare for Psychology, Methodology, Teaching aptitude and such subjects and for Groups the incumbent must need to have a detailed knowledge of history, geography, culture, art and other aspects of Telangana state as per the new syllabus.

TSPSC chairman Ghanta Chakrapani in his recent statement made it clear that notification for Groups examination can be released only after large scale transfers of non-local staff and review of all the departments.

Another aspirant Venkat Naik said that a student can prepare for one competitive examination at a time when the syllabus is different but in this situation it was completely ambiguous that what should be selected for preparation.
