Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to give its 521 play grounds to schools from 10AM to 3PM on hire basis. Charges charges received will be spent on the maintenance of the sports activities in the GHMC.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is having around 521 play grounds and the GHMC is planning to give these play grounds to the schools and educational institutions for the development of the sports on hire basis.
The private schools and educational institutions are requested to enroll their names for the above said purpose before 3rd January 2016 said Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner & S.O.
At present the GHMC is having 379 big play grounds and 142 small with minimum space, the places of the said play grounds and other hire charges details can be seen at the www.ghmc.gov.in.
The play grounds in the twin cities where the sports activities are taking up from 6am to 9AM and again 4PM to 7PM every day for the convenience of the schools and educational institutions the GHMC is planning to give these play grounds to the schools from 10AM to 3PM and the hire charges which are coming from these play grounds will be spent on the maintenance of the sports activities in the GHMC.
The Commissioner said that big stadiums in GHMC the time frame has already been enhanced from 5AM to 11AM for the convenience of the citizens of the twin cities. The existing 521 play grounds can be utilized by all the students of various schools and educational institutions to improve the sports activities and the GHMC can also avoid these play grounds from encroachments.
At present the GHMC is charging around Rs. 3000 per day for 1000 sq. yards area and the timings are 10AM to 3PM. In this connection the GHMC is planning to give 3 years lease or hire in the coming days.
The Commissioner has given certain instructions to the sports wing to form a committee with the school association representatives for taking up the sports activities. The GHMC sports authorities from the last 3 to 4 days have continuously interacting with various school authorities that how much hire charges and other needs have been discussed to take up this innovative scheme.
