TRS will win 111 seats if elections are held now: KCR

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has claimed that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would win 111 out of 119 seats if elections are held on immediate basis.

Addressing the TRS Legislature Party meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KCR presented the findings of a latest survey. He claimed that the TRS was at the peak of its popularity due to the successful implementation of welfare schemes in the State.

The meeting, attended by all almost all State Ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs of TRS, assumed high significance especially in view of changing political situation in the recent past. The participants, including ministers, were not allowed to carry their mobiles in the meeting hall.

Several issues, especially the visit of BJP National President Amit Shah and upcoming visit of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was discussed during the meeting. The strategy to counter the BJP and prevent its spread in the State was also discussed in the meeting.

According to sources, it has been decided that the TRS would remain neutral in the Presidential election.

The Chief Minister has reportedly asked the TRS legislators to organise grand celebrations of three years of Telangana Formation from June 2 onwards. He also stressed on hastening the process of recruitment in various departments.

The meeting was conducted amid tight security and additional number of Grey Hounds Commandos was deployed for the security of the Chief Minister. (INN)
