Interviews for AIS coaching 2017-18 batch begin at MANUU

Hyderabad: Interviews for the selection of 2017-2018 batch of aspirants for the All India Services examinations began at the Civil Services Coaching Examination Academy at Maulana Azad National Urdu University on Monday (June 19) morning.

A record 6,900 students from all over the country had registered online for writing the entrance exam.  However, those who actually took the exam were 1958.

Of these, 499 students have been selected for personal interviews.  Among the students who have started appearing for interviews 100 will be picked up for coaching which will be spread over 15 months.

The Academy has its own purpose built building within the serene 200-acre MANUU campus. “The 15 month training program will focus on giving an intensive in-house coaching schedule for all 100 students that will comprise a select batch of civil service aspirants,” Academy  Director Dr Amir Ullah Khan said.

Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of MANUU, said that the civil service academy is a unique institution that provides free coaching where eminent faculty like Prof Faizan Mustafa, Prof Abusaleh Shariff and Prof Amitabh Kundu, among others, will teach and monitor pedagogical tools.

Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, the Vice-Chancellor, had appointed a committee under Mr G Sudhir, retired senior IAS Officer, to review the working of the Academy.

The Committee recommended a longer duration program and mandatory hostel requirement for all students. This year, both the recommendations were implemented.

Khan said that the University will give 20 fellowships to those candidates who maintain 100 per cent attendance; score well in the mandatory ten tests a month and are successful in the elementary Urdu course that the University offers to its students.

Dr Shakeel Ahmad, said that the course will begin in the last week of July. These selected candidates will then be given rigorous coaching till September 2018. “All students will stay at the MANUU hostel as the program is designed to be 24/7 intensive training exercise,” he said.

Mr. A K Khan, retired IPS and Advisor to the Telangana, described the Academy as a special initiative that is supported by his Government.

Mr Sudhir delivering his inaugural address at the start of the interview process, reiterated that this MANUU initiative “For the marginalized sections of society is in indeed a welcome step and will correct the underrepresentation of Women and Muslims in the civil service.”

Yoga Day at MANUU

Hyderabad: National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Maulana Azad National Urdu University is organizing the International Day of Yoga 2017 on June 21 at 10.00 am at Indore Sports Complex in the campus.

According to Dr. Mohammad Fariyad, Coordinator NSS, Yoga expert Dr. Ramakant Sahoo, Yogacharya, Patanjali Yogpeeth, will deliver lecture on ‘Yoga for healthy peaceful life’ while Yogacharya Mr Ram Awatar Tiwari will give demonstration.

Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, I/c Vice Chancellor will preside over the programme. The Chief Guest of the event will be Dr. K. P. Singh, Finance Officer, MANUU. Slogan writing and sketch competition will be held for students on the same day.
